It is a rare version of the $20 gold coin that was produced during the Civil War and was designed by Anthony Paquet.

James Longacre, the head engraver of the US Mint at the time, created the iconic design on the coin's obverse.

Because the thinner rim design was thought to be impractical for bulk minting, only a small number of the variation were made.

"This example stands at the absolute pinnacle of rarity and exquisite condition," the coin title states.
