5 Rare Coins to Hold in 2025.  

Liberty Head nickels from 1913 are rare. Two are in private collections, so you won't see one. In 1996, the Eliasberg specimen sold for $1,480,000 with the highest PCGS grade (PR66).

Auctioned again in March 2001 for $1,840,000. It sold again to Legend Numismatics for $4,150,000 in 2005. It sold again for $5 million in 2007.

Made between 1794 and 1795, this coin is identical in size and weight to the Spanish dollar. The front has a Lady Liberty bust and the reverse a wreath-framed eagle. The Draped Bust dollar replaced Robert Scot's design.

Adolph Alexander Weinman's dimes have sold for $8,519 at auctions. This coin isn't as valuable as others on this list, but that's still a good amount for an inherited dime.

From 1907 to 1933, this $20 coin was struck. Augustus Saint-Gaudens' sculpture depicts Lady Liberty holding a torch and olive branch against a bright sun. The US Capitol and 46 stars are visible. Eagle before sun on back. Not all coins had “In God We Trust.”

Another rare cent worth keeping is this one, minted just over 300,000. It is NGC Genuine and designed by James Barton Longacre. It sold for $3,400 at 2021 auction. Some coins are valued more by grade.
