This week, no Social Security payment? This explains why no checks were sent to Americans.

In addition to administering payments to around 74 million recipients, the Social Security Administration is responsible for maintaining track of all the contributions made by Americans through payroll taxes.

These consist of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), disability benefits, and retired employees, their spouses, and their survivors.

Throughout the year, there is hardly a week that passes without the SSA paying one of these beneficiary groups. But this week is going to be one of those unique times.

It all depends on how the agency handles the funds; there is nothing wrong with the SSA. payments for May have already been disbursed to three groups: SSI recipients, those who started receiving payments prior to May 1997, and recipients who receive both Social Security and SSI.

Depending on their birthdate, all other Social Security recipients receive their payments on a particular Wednesday each month.

There are no payments this Wednesday since those payments are due on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of the month. However, beginning next week, payments will still be made on time.

On Wednesday, May 14, who is eligible to collect Social Security benefits? Many of the 69.4 million Americans who receive retirement benefits, also known as survivor pay or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), receive their money on one of three Wednesdays per month; the date of payment is based on the individual's birthday.

Recipients born between the first and the tenth of each month will get their retirement, SSDI, and survivor payments from the SSA on Wednesday, May 14.

The following two Wednesdays in May will subsequently see the continuation of this staggered payment method

May's Wednesday payment schedule: Weds., May 14: recipients born on 1st to 10th Weds., May 21: recipients born on 11th to 20th Weds., May 28: recipients born on 21st to 31st
