This week, no Social Security payment? This explains why no checks were sent to Americans.

In addition to administering payments to around 74 million recipients, the Social Security Administration is responsible for maintaining track of all the contributions made by Americans through payroll taxes.

Depending on their birthdate, all other Social Security recipients receive their payments on a particular Wednesday each month.
