According to numismatist Justin Heller of New Haven Coins (also known as The Collector of Coins on YouTube), coin collectors seeking value in 2025 may consider the 1890-CC Morgan silver dollar, which represents a minting from Carson City.
In addition to stating that this mintage was “one of the most frequently asked-for coins when I’m set up as a dealer at a coin show,” Heller said the value might vary from $500 to $2,500 in accordance with market timing, grade, and condition.
One of the “most famous and dramatic mint errors in U.S. coin history,” Heller called it, occurred at the Philadelphia Mint and affected 20,000 to 24,000 pennies. The numismatics expert says these faulty coins are easy to identify without magnification.
Being “one of the most desirable errors among collectors,” Heller advised his audience to buy the coin in good to fine circulated form for $1,200 to $2,500 or high-end graded mint state for up to $30,000 to hold for future value.
The Royal Canadian Mint's 2021 $10 quarter-ounce red-tailed hawk is a contender, trading at a greater valuation than the record-high gold spot price.
The late Queen Elizabeth II link, high purity of gold (99.99%), elegance of its design, and relative scarcity contribute to this piece's higher-than-expected value, according to Benzinga.
